Join us this Summer and take part in our Explorer Trail! 1st August to 6th September 2024
Our Summer Explorer Trail is here! You and your family are invited to embark on a memorable journey along the beautiful River Dart and take part in the exclusive Explorer Express adventure.
Simply collect an explorer sheet from the ticket office and answer six questions along your journey between Buckfastleigh and Totnes.
Once completed, drop your Summer Explorer Trail sheet in the post box at the ticket office for a chance to WIN a Freight Train Experience for four people.
Plus, every Friday during the Explorer Trail, one lucky winner will be chosen at random to win a Family Ticket (2 adults and 2 children).

Whilst you are with us, why not explore the surrounding areas too? Totnes town is a short walk (around 15 minutes) from our Totnes Riverside station, so catch our train to beat the traffic for a leisurely day out.
Totnes is a thriving town with lots of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and other attractions, a great way to break your journey whilst taking part in our Summer Explorer Trail!
At Buckfastleigh we have free parking, a railway museum (including the only surviving steam locomotive from Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s broad-gauge railway), large gardens, a model railway, riverside walks, ice cream kiosk and cafe to keep you entertained whilst here!
Terms and Conditions for our Summer Explorer Trail:
- The prizes are as stated in the competition copy
- The weekly prize draw will take place at 10:00am each Friday during the competition period.
- The end of competition prize draw will take place at 10am on 7th September 2024.
- Any images contained are for illustration purposes only and may not reflect the exact prize.
- The prize is not transferable, not exchangeable, and there is no cash alternative.
- The winner(s) will be drawn at random and the management team’s decision is final.
- The winner(s) will be contacted within 2 working days of the closing date.
- Winners must respond to South Devon Railway within 7 days of being notified of their prize, otherwise, the management team reserves the right to select an alternative winner.
- The winner will have to collect their prize from South Devon Railway unless otherwise communicated. If the prize is unclaimed, another winner will be randomly picked from the entries received within the competition date. The original winner will be notified before another replacement winner is picked. The first winner will also be notified if they have failed to acknowledge their prize.
- Employees of South Devon Railway, their families and any other associated with either party may not be permitted to enter this competition.
