Rails & Ales

On the Bank Holiday weekend,  August 26th to 29th, the South Devon Railway celebrates with a feast of steam and diesel trains – and our famous beer and cider festival too!

Trains will be running at frequent intervals throughout the day.

At Buckfastleigh, our London Transport Routemaster bus will be running trips to Buckfast Abbey and Ashburton, the original terminus of our line. The garden railway and all our usual attractions, from the museum to the gardens and gift shop, will be open.

The beer and cider festival takes place at Staverton station, the midway point on the line, offering a great selection of ales, craft beers and ciders to enjoy from Devon Diesel Society’s award-winning bar.

The Staverton Buffet Coach will serve a variety of hot and cold snacks, teas, coffees and soft drinks.

Sunday evening is quiz night – a just for fun general knowledge quiz.
