Sound in the New Year with the National Whistle-up

Sound in the New Year in style by joining us for the national Whistle-Up, a spectacular celebration marking 200 years of heritage railway history. At 12pm on 1st January 2025, heritage railways across the UK will unite in a symphony of steam whistles, commemorating 200 years of train travel.

We invite local communities, families, and train enthusiasts to experience this historic moment and celebrate the nostalgic charm of steam railways. Visitors can enjoy a special offer, with 200 free children’s tickets available for this event. Each of the first 200 children booked online will also receive a complimentary wooden whistle upon arrival, ready to sound on the platform at midday.

The Whistle-Up marks the start of Railway 200, a year-long celebration to honour two centuries of modern railway transport. From the sounds of steam whistles to vintage locomotives recreating the golden age of travel, our calendar of Railway 200 events are the perfect opportunity to support and celebrate heritage railways.
