FAMILY FUN WEEKEND AT THE
SOUTH DEVON RAILWAY
Saturday 26h & Sunday 27th July 2014
Fun – 1 22 July 2014
The South Devon Railway (SDR) will be running its very first ‘Family Fun Weekend’ this coming weekend on Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th July when the railway aims to create a summer fair atmosphere at Buckfastleigh with some additional family fun type entertainment.
In addition to two train running on the railway with trains every 45 minutes in the day from 10.00, and the linked attractions of the Dartmoor Otters & Buckfast Butterflies and Totnes Rare Breeds Farm, the SDR has laid on a number of other interesting things to see and do, some of which are normally only seen there over Bank Holiday weekends.
The entertainment and extra features includes: 1940’s fairground rides, music organ and children’s games in the gardens; steam car rides around the site; face painting and magic shows; railway brake van rides at Buckfastleigh; miniature railway and garden railway both open; heritage bus rides (Sunday only); museum, signal box & Lee Moor Tramway shed all open; small traction engines on display; and a ‘Guess the number of balloons in the Land Rover’ competition!
Fun – 2
Normal entry and train prices will apply throughout other than a small nominal charge for some of the extra entertainment laid on, and the cafe and shop will be open as usual.
