Family Fun on the South Devon Railway
Are you planning a few trips out with the children this half term week?
Well, from October 24th to 28th 2016, we are holding our annual Family Fun Week, with steam trains every day and loads more besides happening every day.
Take a trip down the scenic valley of the River Dart in a historic branch line train and you can also enjoy heaps of entertainment that includes (subject to availability) an entertainer on the train, face painting, a coconut shy, popcorn, a mechanical organ and trips in an old London Routemaster bus. If the weather is fine, it is hoped that the miniature railway at Buckfastleigh will be running too.
At Buckfastleigh there is also an absorbing museum that includes the only surviving locomotive built to Brunel’s broad gauge, Tiny, a fabulous gift and model railway shop, refreshment rooms, acres of gardens and a riverside picnic area.
You also get close to where the railway restores old steam locomotives from the viewing gallery in the workshop.
A special time table will be in operation from 10.00.
A warm welcome awaits this half term week.
